Finding Signal In The Noise

Contemporary abstract works by Denver artist Dan Harrington employ what he calls random intent by setting up conditions with unusual and somewhat unpredictable industrial materials combined with a personal aesthetic to form his art. "I'd rather let the process unfold and find out what occurred after the work is finished than impose my notion of what the finished piece should be. It's up to the viewer to decide whether it's signal or noise."

In a Spanish cave 70,000 years ago, our ancestors made marks with their hands, silhouettes of four fingers and a thumb. They say, "I was here. I made this. I had meaning.”

Over time power structure tries to regulate meaning to compress it.
